This One Practice Will Make 2025 Way Better

One of the best practices we do in our business is…

Reflection.

At the end of each year we really look back at the year to take inventory of what worked and what didn’t work for us – what did we enjoy, what didn’t we enjoy?

Because for us, it’s so important to build an expert business that serves us and our dreams.

As your business grows it’s so easy for it to morph into something you didn’t necessarily want it to be.

Usually this is because it’s easy to continue to lean into what’s just making you money…

Even if it goes against your vision for your life and business.

I get it, pivoting is scary.

And that’s why I brought my business partner and amazing wife, Sarah Boyd, onto the Podcast this week so that we could reflect on the past year together and share the business lessons we learned.

Here are just a few of the insights we shared on the episode:

Lesson 1: Do more of what works

When something is working well for you, it’s very common to think about what else can I add into the mix. When in reality the thought should be, how can I capitalize even more on what’s working. How can you activate it even more? Maybe that means automating it more or maybe it means bringing more team members on.

Lesson 2: You should define what success looks like in your season

It’s easy to get sucked into what other people define success as. As an entrepreneur, you have the full flexibility to define what success looks like. I’ve noticed that in the expert industry it tends to be more monetary related. But what is most important is that you define your own success based on the season of life you’re in. Maybe, you want to focus more on family and business takes a back seat. Or maybe you need to grind a bit more and scale. Define success around your season.

On the podcast, we shared some really personal stories about different seasons of our life and how we defined success, one of my favorite ones was ‘space’ season.

Lesson 3: There’s never a good time to do something

You can always find a reason not to do something. But in reality, there will never be a time when you say.. “Oh my gosh I have so much extra energy and time to take on this new task” haha! There will never be a good time, you have to just take the leap and start. Even if it’s just 1 small step.
