The mindset advice you’ve trusted… that’s holding you back

Most people think mindset blocks show up like big road signs.

But usually? They sneak in wearing a hoodie and holding a green juice.

They sound reasonable. Responsible. Even protective.

But in reality, they’re sabotaging your business from the inside out.

They whisper things like “Be smarter,” “Play it safer,” or “Wait just a little longer…”

And before you know it, you’re stuck tweaking your ‘About me page’ for the 47th time instead of actually sharing your genius.

The worst part? These thoughts feel helpful in the moment—but they’re the very thing keeping you from real traction.

And that’s why I recorded this week’s episode of The Expert Edge. So that you can avoid this major COMMON pitfall.

Listen now: Episode 278 | Avoid These 5 Toxic Thoughts As A Coach

After coaching thousands of experts, course creators, and coaches, I’ve noticed the same toxic mindsets pop up again and again.

They disguise themselves as caution or logic, but really—they’re fear.

Here are the 5 thoughts to rewire today if you want to grow faster and feel better doing it:

1. “I feel bad asking for money.”
This isn’t about being greedy. It’s about giving people a space to commit to themselves.
Money is just a currency of commitment. And when you see it that way, asking for it becomes a service.

2. “It needs to be perfect before I launch.”
No, it doesn’t. Put it out messy. Let it be a little wrinkled and awkward.
Ducklings don’t line up until mama duck starts moving. Be the duck.

3. “If I show up fully, I’ll be criticized.”
Spoiler: You will be criticized.
But hiding your true self is way more painful than someone’s lukewarm comment on Instagram.
Let your spicy side out. (Your people are waiting for it.)

4. “Other people are already doing this better than me.”
True. And irrelevant.
Some people want what only you can bring. If you don’t show up, they miss out.
Comparison isn’t just the thief of joy—it’s the killer of action.

5. “I have to do everything myself to succeed.”
This is the entrepreneur’s favorite martyrdom badge.
But here’s the truth: You can’t grow while trying to control every pixel and password.
Start small—outsource your inbox or customer service. Protect your creative energy like it’s your grandma’s lasagna recipe.

If any of these hit a little too close to home—it’s probably the episode you need most.
