If your high-ticket offer isn’t converting, it might not be the price…
…it might be the positioning.
Most experts make the same three mistakes when trying to scale:
- They go too broad in their niche.
- They skip creating a compelling community.
- They sell before they serve people properly.
When you fix those your $1,000 offer can become a $14,000 no-brainer.
(And yes, even in a “tight” economy.)
That’s why I brought Sarah Petty on the Expert Edge this week.
She went from selling $75 photo sessions while raising twins…
…to building a multi-million dollar coaching business with a 77% renewal rate and a cult-like following of boutique photographers.
I love chatting with Sarah because her audience are not all huge money makers. Majority of them only make about $50,000 to $100,000 a year.
So often I hear people say that they can’t sell premium priced programs because their audience won’t pay for it. That’s the same excuse that Sarah could have used, but in spite of that, she’s built a multimillion-dollar premium-priced coaching program that has a 77% renewal rate!

Here are 3 moves Sarah made that changed everything:
1. Ditch “volume” and lean into value.
Instead of trying to get more clients at low prices, she created a boutique model where one client could equal $6K. The lesson here is that if having a huge audience is not something that comes naturally to you, maybe you need to create a better value offer and make more money from your current audience. We explored how Sarah did this in her marketplace, and it took her from a small business to a coaching empire.
2. Build a culture that claps back.
I love this one. On the podcast, Sarah talked about how ‘the last time most people were clapped for was when they were in school’. She’s created a culture of clapping people and encouraging them on their journey. Every time someone achieves something in her community, they share how they achieved it so that they can help other people make that progress as well. Sarah’s students get pins, prizes, and praise. That type of recognition creates stickiness in a culture. It keeps people engaged, motivated, and renewing year after year.
3. Turn false beliefs into the reason for success.
Initially, Sarah thought her market (moms with cameras) couldn’t afford premium offers. She ended up proving herself wrong. They just needed clarity, confidence, and community—exactly what her coaching delivers. If you are in a niche that you think won’t pay premium prices, you need to take a listen to this podcast because it will encourage you to actually charge what you’re worth.
