Prior to our coaching I had difficulty communicating and influencing other people. My projects were going well overall, But I felt like it required a lot of time and effort to effectively get the point across.

Colin gave me strategies and guidelines that I can use.  I gave them a go and saw some good outcomes. Like all skills, I realised that this needs to be practiced in order to be good at.  The coaching also encouraged me to be more aware of my listener when communicating.  As I’ve become aware, I consciously connect with other faster and effectively.

Initially, my challenge as a manager was I had a “perception” that I was cold and direct amongst colleagues and the management team. I knew I had to get the balance right between “managing” the team and “empowering” the team. What I got out of coaching was:

“The challenges I was facing prior to the coaching included high levels of anxiety around my performance and how others viewed me. I struggled to find time for myself and achieve balance due to a lack of delegation and a strong need for control at work, plus I had difficulties seeing situations from a positive perspective.
